What is Unity Layer?

A conversational workspace for querying your data in plain language — with full visibility into the SQL that runs.

Unity Layer connects to your databases and data warehouses, reads schema and business context from your catalog, and turns natural-language questions into SQL you can review before anything runs. Your data stays where it is — the platform queries it in place.

How it works

Start a conversation, describe what you want to know, and the assistant generates a query against the sources you have access to. You see the SQL, run it when ready, and refine through follow-up questions. Conversations keep context, so you can narrow results without starting over.

The data catalog holds your connections, table metadata, and business glossary. The richer your catalog, the more accurately the assistant maps your questions to the right tables and columns.

Getting started

New to Unity Layer? Work through these guides in order:

Connect your data

Before you can query a database, an administrator or data owner connects it in the catalog. We support 13 platforms with step-by-step setup guides — MySQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, and others.
